In the event that you were unable to attend the test, you can request an extension of time to create an exceptional circumstance. You will receive a response within seven working days after you have written your case to your test center. An exceptional circumstance assessment will be conducted by your test center.

It is essential that any request for exceptional circumstances and supporting evidence be received by your test center no later than five working days after the scheduled test date.

A full refund, less an administration fee of up to 25%, will be issued if your test center approves your case.

Your case will be reviewed if your test center does not approve it. If the test center rejects the request, then subsection 1 is applicable.

3. Test centre exceptions

We may have to cancel your test under certain circumstances outside of our control. Natural disasters, civil unrest, extreme weather conditions, and industrial action are some examples of these circumstances.

  • A transfer to a future test date convenient to you, or,
  • A full refund

In the event that your test center cancels a test due to factors within its control, you would likely be eligible to receive a refund or a transfer to another test date, as well as compensation for expenses incurred. Whether a claim is reasonable or not will be determined by the test center, and any compensation will be awarded according to these conditions:

  • If a decision to cancel was made outside the control of the test center, the center would assess why the decision was made.
  • Travel and accommodation expenses will be the only types of compensation awarded, and they include:

– incurred directly because you planned your attendance on test day,

– Supported by a payment receipt(s),

– Confirmation that cancellation charges for travel and/or accommodations cannot be recouped from the vendor,

– compared with the lowest reasonable market rates for the expenses involved (done by the test center).

  • Traveling to a different test location than your normal place of residence will prevent the test center from finding a reasonable claim.
